On Wednesday 21st June, four brave men took on the huge task of playing four rounds of golf all in one day. That’s 72 holes and about 300 shots (depending on their skill level obviously!) for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Craig Buchanan, Gerard Wilson, Stefan Kerr, and Tim Patton arrived at Ballymena Golf Course early in the morning. The guys were eager to complete a challenging round of golf in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The sun was already shining brightly, promising a hot summer’s day ahead. As they prepared their clubs and gear, the anticipation was palpable.
The competition was fierce, with each participant determined to perform their best. Despite the heat, which only intensified as the day progressed, the golfers remained focused and committed. Gerard Wilson, in particular, showcased an exceptional level of endurance and skill. Remarkably, he managed to achieve the highest score of the day, even after being the only one to carry his bag around the entire course. His perseverance and dedication were truly inspiring to all present.
However, the results weren’t the primary focus of this event. The main goal was to support Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity close to the hearts of many involved. At the end of the day, despite sunburn, low energy levels, and sore feet, there was a unanimous sense of accomplishment and fulfilment among the golfers. The physical discomfort was a small price to pay for the impact they were making.
Thank You!
Thanks to the generous donations from family, friends, colleagues, and suppliers, our golfing heroes managed to raise just short of £1400. This substantial amount will go a long way in aiding the invaluable work carried out by Macmillan Cancer Support, providing essential services to those affected by cancer.
The event was not only a testament to the participants’ sporting spirit but also a powerful reminder of the importance of community and charity. Every swing, every step, and every drop of sweat contributed to a cause much greater than the game itself. Well done to everyone involved – a great event for a fantastic cause! Your efforts have made a significant difference, and your dedication is truly commendable. Here’s to many more successful charity events in the future!
