Aim of The Project
Originally built in 1904 as the Scottish Mutual Building overlooking Belfast City Hall, The Bedford Hotel is a Grade B1 Listed building with distinctive Edwardian architectural detailing. Its redevelopment into a five-star boutique hotel required an interior specification that complemented the building’s original character while meeting requirements of a high-quality contemporary fit-out.
As part of the interior works, SAM was selected to manufacture and supply MDF skirting and dado rail for the hotel’s wall panelling. The specified profiles needed to integrate with the wider interior scheme and deliver a consistent finish across the project.

MDF Mouldings Made to Specification
SAM5749 MDF skirting and SAM5683 MDF dado rail were manufactured specifically for The Bedford Hotel, providing profiles that worked with proportions and detailing of the wider interior scheme.
Used throughout the hotel, the skirting provides a consistent transition between wall and floor, while the dado rail forms part of the wall panelling design. Together, the profiles add structure and definition to the interiors while complementing the architectural character of the Grade B1 Listed building.
Manufactured from moisture-resistant MDF, the MDF mouldings provide a smooth, consistent surface suitable for a professional painted finish. Supplied primed and ready for finishing on site, they provided a practical solution for achieving consistent detailing across the hotel’s interior fit-out.
