Last week, we were invited along to the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council jobs and careers fair, held at the Antrim Forum. Moreover, we talked about our latest opportunities and what it’s like to work at SAM.
Our HR team, Shauna and Michelle, set up for the day at stand 21, from 11am – 7pm with a morning and afternoon session. Visitors went between stands to learn more about the roles on offer in their local area.
Open to the public, the event gave local companies a chance to promote their current vacancies, with over 80 employers and support organisations in attendance.
The room filled up fast with young adults from school and also college, who were able to browse the stands and get to learn about different industries, what career paths are available and also the opportunities they present.
Those who visited our stand were interested to know what we do and to learn about the different departments and job roles within SAM. We displayed some of our SAM MDF mouldings brands, so visitors could get a look and feel for the products we manufacture and get a better understanding of why they are so popular. The girls explained the processes that are taken every day to make our MDF mouldings. In addition to this, the SAM team spoke about the care taken to ensure consistency and high quality for our customers.

A video at the stand also explained the benefits package that SAM offers to employees. Benefits include:

Moreover, Paul Michael, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, attended the event. Paul was pleased to see a great turn out from young adults and local companies recruiting.
SAM – Home of MDF
Shauna, SAM HR Officer, enjoyed chatting to visitors at the stand throughout the day:
“It was a brilliant day – really well organised! It was a great opportunity to speak to potential candidates and really promote new roles and opportunities at SAM. It came at a great time for us as we have a number of vacancies available, which we had a lot of interest in. Visitors were happy to take application forms, with some even returning their completed forms back to our stand on the day!”
