Two members of SAM staff are taking part in a trek of the Rocky Mountains in Canada later this year with the Cancer Fund for Children. In order to raise funds for the Trek the guys got together and organised a fun night out! They recreated the popular television gameshow The Cube in a local dance hall. The SAM staff came together for a great cause and took part in the cube challenge.
The Cube Challenge
The night involved 8 teams of 4 contestants battling against each other to see if they could beat The Cube. The SAM staff took it in turns to take on the cube challenge. The night got off to a great start with a packed room full of eager supporters for each team!
Managing Director of SAM, Richard Holmes competed in one round where he had to bounce a ball off 2 podiums into a bucket in the corner of The Cube. Unfortunately our Managing Director could not beat The Cube and had to admit defeat after 3 attempts!
Richard Holmes, Managing Director of SAM said: “It was great to see such a great turnout for a charity event! The guys managed to raise a massive £3,500 for the Cancer Fund for Children. Well done guys and good luck for your trek!”
Raising Money for The Cancer Fund for Children
Money raised will go towards supporting a range of important Cancer Fund for Children services. This includes Daisy Lodge located nearby in the tranquil and restorative foothills of the Mourne Mountains. Every year, this free therapeutic centre welcomes up to 500 families from across Ireland who are affected by childhood cancer. This facility brings families together at a time when respite is most needed, away from hospital routines, tests and chemotherapy. Here, families can recuperate and recharge helping them to cope with the challenges of the cancer journey ahead and meet people who find themselves facing similar situations.
Amanda Steele, a fundraiser with Cancer Fund for Children, said: “The fundraising support we receive from the local community never ceases to amaze all of us at Cancer Fund for Children. We see first-hand the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a family and we exist to provide practical, emotional and financial support to these families during this difficult time. The support of local businesses like SAM Mouldings continues to be invaluable to us as we strive to ensure no family faces cancer alone.”
