CEO and founder Sam McCrea MBE was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Manufacturing at the Ulster Tatler Interiors Awards on May 8th, 2025, held at the historic Belfast Harbour Commissioners.
Now in its sixth year, the Ulster Tatler Interiors Lifetime Awards, in association with Hafele Ireland, celebrate the achievements of key individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the architectural and interior design sectors in Northern Ireland. Six local businessmen were recognised during the evening. Each recipient received a custom oil painting, created and framed by local artist Stephen Whalley. The event was hosted by well-known Cool FM presenter Rebecca McKinney.
Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in Manufacturing, Sam was acknowledged for his impact on the manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland, particularly within the internal mouldings industry. His vision, leadership, and innovation have played a pivotal role in shaping the sector over the past three and a half decades.
The award comes at a momentous time for SAM, as the company celebrates 35 years in business. Founded in 1990, SAM has grown to become the UK’s largest manufacturer of quality MDF mouldings, supplying both trade and DIY markets across the UK, Ireland, and beyond. From its humble beginnings, SAM has built a reputation for quality, reliability, and forward-thinking design.
In the past year, SAM has made major strides in innovation and accessibility. The company launched its first e-commerce store, giving customers in Northern Ireland direct online access to over 250 profiles, including skirting, architrave, wall panelling, and more.
As part of its milestone year, SAM also announced a £20 million landmark investment to support future growth and innovation. In addition, SAM revealed it will become Principal Partner of Ulster Rugby from July this year, further strengthening its presence and commitment to the local community and regional development.
Continuing to build on this success, SAM recently introduced a new range of SAM Trimax, a durable, sustainable, and low-maintenance external cladding solution that comes with a 50-year guarantee, reinforcing the company’s commitment to both quality and sustainability.
